PDO Threads

Synthetic absorbable surgical-deleteSuture composed of polydioxanone that is thread under the dermis of the skin.  PDO sutures are used in cardiothoracic surgery, and are deemed one of the safest materials that can be implanted into the body. Your skin builds collagen around the threads in 10-14 days, and you start to see results of decreased wrinkles and skin tightening within 5-6 weeks. Your skin fully absorbs it within 4-6 months and won’t leave you with any scar tissue. The results of the collagen formation lasts 1-2 years.

Types of PDO Threads

Mesh – using smooth threads consisting of creating a mesh (some placed vertically and some horizontally) under the skin to serve as a foundation for new collagen production. This technique tightens the skin naturally from within. Areas of use include nasolabial folds, marionette lines, tear troughs, smile lines, tighten skin in neck, forehead wrinkling and glabellar crease (11’s). They can be used in areas of the body to tighten and rebuild collagen in abdomen, legs and arms. Results appear naturally.

Lift – uses barbed threads to utilize a more dramatic and immediate result. The PDO sutures have barbs, which provide grip underneath the skin. the skin will build collagen which will secure the lift. Areas of treatment for lift threads include lower face to improve appearance of nasolabial folds and jowling, define jaw line and tighten skin in neck. Lift threads can also be used in areas of the body to lift breasts, buttocks, knees and other areas of laxity and sagging.

Bruising is common with this procedure
